Aluminum power drifter post by sbeausol » wed apr 08, 2009 10:24 pm i am currently investigating the potential to build a power drifter style boat out of aluminum, which i intend on outfitting with a jet powered outboard somewhere in the range of 40hp at the pump.. The boat i'm interested in building is about 18-20ft power drifter style boat, i will attach a picture. the one in the picture i believe is a stitch and glue plywood/glass. my plans are to use the aluminum faced ply for the bottom by doing a overlapping butt joint where the aluminum overlaps the face of the aluminum on the next piece. i. In addition, the jet drifter is also designed to be able to row. the jet drifter can be custom built in 16’, 17’, or 18’ lengths. similar to our koffler power boat models, the jet drifter can be equipped with inboard or outboard power and with a flat or semi-v bottom..
